Twas in Action

The 3rd Euro-Africa Cooperation Forum on ICT Research will be held in Helsinki, Finland, on 7-8 December 2010. As one of the organizers, TWAS is now accepting pre-registrations.

TWAS has entered into agreement with the Eastern Mediterranean Health Genomics and Biotechnology Network (EMGEN) under the TWAS-UNESCO Associateship scheme.

Each year, TWAS's five Regional Offices select up to five excellent young scientists (below the age of 40) to be come 'TWAS Young Affiliates'.

With input from TWAS, the US National Academies of Science have produced guidelines and manuals to aid laboratory safety and security in developing countries.

A website dedicated to the Solar Radiation Management Initiative (SRMGI), of which TWAS is a partner, is now online.

Some 325 participants from 55 countries gathered in a frozen Helsinki to discuss Euro-Africa cooperation in ICT research and e-infrastructures.

The Pakistan Academy of Sciences and TWAS announce "Abdus Salam Prize in Science" and "Salimuzzaman Siddiqui Prize in Applied Science and Technology".

The EuroAfrica-ICT project, of which TWAS is a participant, has launched a database of African centres of excellence in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT).

TWAS has announced the launch of the Atta-ur-Rahman Prize in Chemistry. The announcement was made at the 22nd General Meeting of TWAS held in Trieste.

TWAS is one of seven partners in the CATALYST consortium, a European project on 'Capacity Development for Hazard Risk Reduction and Adaptation'
