Ramos is recognized for his studies on tectonic evolution of the South American basement and the Andes, in particular for his research in structural geology and tectonics. He is Emeritus Professor at the Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales of the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA), and a researcher of the Instituto de Estudios Andinos of UBA-Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET). He is an honorary member of the Geological Society of America and of the Asociación Geologica Argentina, and a member of the national academies of sciences of Argentina, Chile, Brazil and the USA. He is also a member of many editorial boards of international journals and has received several natational and international scientific awards. His research includes topics like flat-slab subduction, collision of aseismic and seismic ridges in the Andes, as well as continental growth of South America. Ramkissoon is Professor Emeritus, Univ. of the West Indies (UWI), and former Independent Senator in the Government of Trinidad and Tobago. He was educated at UWI, the Univ. of Toronto and the Univ. of Calgary, and has spent most of his teaching career at UWI. He has made notable contributions to understanding micropolar and micro-continuum fluids and Marangoni instabilities, and has played a pivotal role in the advancement of science in the Caribbean region. He was awarded the Chaconia Gold Medal, Trinidad and Tobago; the Academic Gold Medal from Simon Bolivar University, Venezuela; the First CARICOM Science Award; and an hon. D.Sc., University of Technology, Jamaica. He is a Fellow of the Caribbean Academy of Sciences and of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, and a Corresponding Member of the Cuban and Venezuelan science academies.

Ramaswamy is Visiting Professor in the Department of Chemistry at IIT Delhi. He obtained his PhD in 1978 at Princeton University and worked at the Jawaharlal Nehru University between 1986 and 2018. He has made fundamental contributions in the study of nonlinear dynamical systems, particularly on the control and synchronization of chaotic and stochastic systems. His interests also extend to genomics and biological physics, in particular to nonequilibrium processes at the cellular and subcellular level. His membership includes the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore, the Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi, and he has served as Vice Chancellor of the University of Hyderabad between 2011 and 2015. He was President of the Indian Academy of Sciences in the period 2016-2018.

Ramasesha is a professor in the Solid State and Structural Chemistry Unit of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He obtained his PhD in 1977 from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He was post-doctoral research associate at the Universities of Oxford and Princeton. He has been awarded the BM Birla science prize and Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar prize in chemistry. He is a J.C. Bose National fellow and fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences and the Indian National Science Academy. His area of research is modeling electronic and magnetic and nonlinear optic phenomena in molecular materials and low dimensional extended systems. He has developed exact diagonalization methods to study molecular magnets, extended the density matrix renormalization group methods to study static and dynamic properties of electron states in conjugated polymers and spin chains.

Ramamurty is a Professor in the Department of Materials Engineering, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India. He obtained B.E. (Andhra, Metallurgy, 1989), M.E. (IISc, Metallurgy, 1991), and Ph.D. (Brown, Engineering, 1994) degrees and gained post-doctoral research experience at UCSB and MIT. Before joining IISc's faculty in October 2000, he worked as an Assistant Professor for three years at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Raghunathan is Distinguished Guest Professor and Head, National Centre for Mathematics at IIT-Bombay, Mumbai, India. He obtained his PhD in mathematics from the University of Mumbai in 1966 and was appointed associate professor at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research the same year. His awards include: the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award in Mathematics; Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, India, 1977; TWAS Prize for Mathematics, 1991; and the 1991 Srinivas Ramanujan Medal, Indian National Science Academy (INSA) He is a fellow of INSA, Delhi, the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore, and the Royal Society, UK. Raghavendra obtained his PhD in 1975 (Sri Venkateswara University). Primavera (PhD in marine science, University of the Philippines Diliman; MA in zoology, Indiana University, USA) taught at Mindanao State University, but a rebellion made her growing family flee to relative peace in Iloilo, central Philippines, where she worked at Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center, Aquaculture Department. Since her studies in the 1980s, she rang early warning bells on the perils of unplanned aquaculture. Her research shifted to the mangrove-penaeid shrimp connection and mangrove-friendly aquaculture for which she was conferred a PhD honoris causa by Stockholm University (2004). The citation read: … she has shown that mangroves are key areas for recruitment of fish and shrimp and that development of conventional shrimp farming may have far reaching negative economic and social implications… [To] create sustainable alternatives she is now doing research on … integrated farming of shrimp, fish, crabs and mangrove. She has published ~170 scientific papers, reviews, manuals, books and other publications, including the Handbook of Mangroves in the Philippines – Panay (2005 Outstanding Book Award by National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines).

Prasad (PhD, Harvard University, 1989) has been chair professor, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai, India, since November 2018. He was distinguished professor (till April 2020) and dean, School of Mathematics (2011–2013), Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai; president, Commission on Developing Countries of International Mathematical Union (2018–22); and president, Indian Mathematical Society (2022). Piao (PhD, 2004, Peking University, China) is Boya Distinguished Professor, director of Institute of Carbon Neutrality, deputy director of Department of Science, Peking University. He is a Member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a Member of Standing Committee for the fourteenth Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. He served on the Scientific Steering Committee for Global Carbon Project and acted as lead author for the fifth and sixth assessment reports of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Phu is professor at the Institute of Mathematics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. He obtained his PhD (Dr. rer. nat.) in 1983 and Habilitation (Dr. sc. nat.) in 1987 at the University of Leipzig, Germany. He was awarded as Werner Romberg Distinguished Guest Professor of the Heidelberg Graduate School of Mathematical and Computational Methods for the Sciences, University of Heidelberg, Germany in 2008. He is Corresponding Member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities since 2004 and Corresponding Member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities since 2010.

Phan is professor at the International University, Vietnam National University of Hochiminh City (HCMIU) and vice president of the Vietnam Mathematical Society. He obtained his PhD in 1978 and DSc in 1988 at the Institute of Mathematics, Polish Academy of Sciences. He was the founder-president of HCMIU. He is also professor-head of Department of Optimization and System Theory at the University of Science of Hochiminh City, adjunct professor at the University of Ballarat, Australia, vice president of the Mathematical Council of the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development, member of the Scientific Council of the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) and the National Council for Mathematics Professorship. He is an associate editor of a number of international mathematical journals.

Pérez Rojas is senior researcher at the Institute of Cybernetics, Mathematics and Physics, Ministry of Science and Technology, Cuba; emeritus member of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba; and member of the Latin American Academy of Sciences. His national awards include the Rafael Maria Mendive and Carlos J. Finlay Medals. He was awarded in 2011 the National Prize in Physics from the Cuban Physical Society. His interests include quantum field theory and its applications to finite temperature problems in high energy physics and condensed matter. Among these, he has devoted special attention to quantum electrodynamics in matter and in vacuum in the presence of external fields, phase transitions in electroweak theory, relativistic quantum Hall effect, Bose-Einstein condensation in magnetic fields, and applications of physics to social sciences.

Pena is professor of biochemistry at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) in Brazil, where he graduated in medicine in 1970. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada in pediatrics in 1975 and obtained his PhD in human genetics at the University of Manitoba in 1977. He is member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and received the Great-Cross of the National Order of Scientific Merit of Brazil in 2006. is currently a member of the National Council of Science and Technnology of Brazil. Among other honours, he was awarded the 2007 TWAS Prize in Medical Sciences. He was president of the Brazilian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and member of the Council of the Human Genome Organization (HUGO). He created and directs the Danilo Pena Foundation, which grants scholarships to poor students with high intellectual potential.

Peña Diaz obtained his MD and PhD in biochemistry from the University of Mexico. He pursued postdoctoral research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1964. He has been professor at the Medical School, Biology Institute and Investigator and director of the Instituto de Fisiología Celular and the Marine Sciences Institute at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He was honoured by UNESCO with the Carlos Finlay Prize for Microbiology in 2003. He was president of the Mexican Academy of Sciences, the Mexican Biochemical Society and the Panamerican Association for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. His work is focused on the transport and effects of ions, mainly on different species of yeasts. His work has produced 100 publications in specialized journals, and has received more than 2000 citations.
