Pablo Bolaños-Villegas is an associate faculty the University of Costa Rica, in Costa Rica, Central America. He obtained his BSc in plant science at the University of Costa Rica, and his MSc at the National Pingtung University of Science and Technology in Pingtung, Taiwan. His doctoral work was guided by Guang-Yuh Jauh at the Taiwan International Graduate Program of the Academia Sinica, in Taipei. Currently he is trying to determine how meiotic chromosomes are organized in Sobralia orchids, how ploidy impacts flower development in orchids and how habitat loss impacts population viability in orchids. He has published in the Plant Physiology and Frontiers in Plant Science . He currently serves as an editor at The Annals of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, and is a member of the American Society of Plant Biologists. He is interested in orchid reproduction and in the teaching of science to undergraduates.

Cabrerizo received his BSc in Chemistry (2002) and his PhD in Chemical Science (2005) from the Universidad Nacional de La Plata (UNLP), Argentina. He was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Centro de Investigación en Hidratos de Carbono (CONICET–UBA, 2005–2006). He carried out research in Germany, Japan and Denmark. Since 2006, he has been a Research Member of the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET), leading, from 2010 to date, the Photochemistry and Molecular Photobiology Lab. He served as an Assistant Professor at UNLP and at the Universidad Nacional de San Martín (UNSMA) (2011–2013). In 2013, he was appointed Associate Professor at UNSMA. His research focuses on the molecular aspects of mechanisms of photosensitized processes triggered by UVA and visible light. Cabrerizo was awarded the G. Cilento Award of the Inter-American Photochemical Society (2006), the Ranwel Caputto Award of the National Academy of Sciences of Argentina (2009), and the Eduardo G. Gros scholarship of the National Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences, Argentina (2015).

Young Visiting Professor at the University of Granada (Spain) (2018). CONICET Postdoctoral Fellow (2019-2020), CONICET Researcher (since 2020-Present) at the Technological Institute of Chascomús and Professor (since 2020-Present) at the National University of San Martín (Argentina). In 2017 he received the Arnoldo Gabaldón award for his contribution in Chemical Sciences from the Academy of Physical, Mathematical and Natural Sciences (Venezuela) and the Central University of Venezuela. He is an active member of the Venezuelan Electrochemical Society. TWAS Young Affiliate Network (TYAN) elected from 2016 to 2020. The research carried out by Dr. Vargas has been based on understanding phenomena related to the kinetics of chemical processes in oxidation-reduction reactions, this being one of the fundamental problems in physical chemistry. Most of the research works that have been conducted focus on topics involving "FUNDAMENTAL AND APPLIED ELECTROCHEMISTRY" and "PHYSICOCHEMICAL ASPECTS IN PHOTOCATALYTIC PROCESSES".

Christian A.M. Wilson is an assistant professor of the University of Chile, at the department of biochemistry and molecular biology. He holds a doctorate degree in biochemistry with a postdoctoral training at the University of California at Berkeley under the supervision of professors Carlos Bustamante and Susan Marqusee. His group is focused, among others, on determining the importance of the force associated to the domain movements of different protein to perform their function. He is a young scientist who has participated in several projects as principal investigator and director of the network of studies in biochemistry/biophysics of manipulation of individual molecules. He has had an outstanding role in the development of new methods for measuring enzyme activity, such as a method for measuring the glycogen synthase, enzyme involved in diabetes, which has been used by other investigators. Also, Wilson is a regional expert in the field of single molecule manipulation. He has current collaborations and publications with Chilean, and foreign scientists. Wilson has assembled the first optical tweezers instrument to measure individual molecules in the country.
