Among the Academy’s flagship research grants programme is a recently begun category specifically for interdisciplinary collaboration across borders.
The grant rovides up to US$35,000 to each of two scientists (US$70,000 total), one male and one female, and at least one from a science-and-technology-lagging country (STLC) and one from Least Developed Country (LDC). They will work together to conduct interdisciplinary research between two different scientific fields. Up to US$30,000 of each award is designated for equipment and consumable supplies, and the remainder may be spent on scientific conference participation and open access publishing fees.

The grants are financially supported by the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida). The deadline for every programme is 3 April 2024. Applications from women scientists are especially encouraged. For more on the overall grants programme, see our guide to research grants.
