The National Science Foundation (NSF) of Sri Lanka, under the purview of the Ministry of Science and Technology, fosters science, technology, and innovation ecosystem in the country. The NSF was established in 1998 by the Science and Technology Development Act No. 11 of 1994, as a successor to the Natural Resources, Energy & Science Authority of Sri Lanka (NARESA) established in 1981 and the National Science Council (NSC) set up in 1968.
