The new Bibliotheca Alexandrina is dedicated to recapture the spirit of openness and scholarship of the original Library of Alexandria. It aims to be a centre of excellence in the production and dissemination of knowledge and a place of dialogue, learning and understanding between cultures and peoples. The Center for Special Studies and Programs at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina hosts TWAS's Arab regional office, TWAS-ARO.
