In a new video released by TWAS, Brazilian scientist Fernanda De Oliveira Lana explains the importance of science diplomacy for creating dialogue across all sectors.
She is a researcher at the Brazilian Platform for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services and a scientific producer for National Geographic. She was also one of more than two-dozen participants in the 10th AAAS-TWAS Course on Science Diplomacy, and is featured prominently in this article about the course, published by AAAS.
For the 2023 edition of the course, TWAS and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) brought together 13 pairs of scientists and policymakers from across the world to Trieste, Italy, on 19-23 June. The aim of the course, launched in 2014 with key funding from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), is to ensure that the results of scientific research can be used in real-world policy decisions.
