TWAS names winner 2023 TWAS-CAS Young Scientist Award

The winner is Indian mathematician Neena Gupta

TWAS has announced the winner of the 2023 TWAS-CAS Young Scientist Award: Neena Gupta of India.

Neena Gupta, an Indian mathematician, won the award for outstanding discoveries on fundamental questions in affine algebraic geometry, including the longstanding Zariski Cancellation Problem. She was elected a TWAS Young Affiliate in 2020, and is also a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, elected in 2021.

TWAS administers numerous awards, often named after generous and highly accomplished TWAS Fellows or institutions that partner with the Academy. The awards provide a powerful incentive for developing world scientists to excel on new levels, while bringing much-deserved global recognition to their achievements and inspiring others to follow in their footsteps. TWAS also recently announced four other awardees, all women, in September.
