Launched in March 2010 (see here), the Solar Radiation Management Initiative (SRMGI) is being coordinated by the Royal Society (UK), TWAS and the Environmental Defense Fund (USA).
SRMGI seeks to develop guidelines to ensure that geoengineering research is conducted in a manner that is transparent, responsible and environmentally sound.The project is engaging with a variety of organizations concerned with natural and social science, governance and legal issues, as well as environmental and development NGOs, industry and civil society organizations, from across the globe.
