Fellowship opportunities for MS or PhD students from sub-Saharan Africa enrolled at a US or sub-Saharan African university

The Norman E. Borlaug Leadership Enhancement in Agriculture Program (LEAP) is seeking applications for fellowship grant opportunities for graduate students (MS or PhD) from sub-Saharan Africa who are enrolled as an MS or PhD student at a US or sub-Saharan Africa developing country university.

Deadline for applications: 2 December 2015

Applications are requested from students who are conducting research on topics related to the US government's global hunger and food security initiative – 'FEED THE FUTURE'. The focus region is sub-Saharan Africa. All topics related to agriculture (and related disciplines, as defined by Title XII borlaugleap.org/title-xii-foreign-assistance-act) and the research strategies of the 'Feed the Future' initiative are admissible.

The Borlaug LEAP fellowship programme supports engaging a mentor at a US university and at a CGIAR centre to support and enhance the thesis research and mentoring experience.  Awards are given to students who show strong scientific knowledge and leadership potential. Funds are available for one year (1 April 2016 – 31 March 2017) and cannot exceed USD 20,000.
