A symposium on extreme weather and climate is scheduled to take place in Beijing 8–11 September. The “13th CAS-TWAS-WMO Forum, the International Symposium on Extreme Weather and Climate: Past, Present, Future”, will bring together experts in these fields to exchange knowledge so that societies will be more prepared for when danger looms. The deadline to apply is 5 August.
Sessions at the event will discuss the latest science on how climate change and land use influence flooding, heat waves, drought and air pollution. The symposium will also explore how these threats affect society. More information is available in the flyer below.
The event is sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), CAS-TWAS-WMO (World Meteorological Organization) Forum on Climate Science and TWAS. It is organized by the CAS-TWAS Centre of Excellence for Climate and Environment Sciences and the Institute of Atmospheric Physics.
