The '2013 Africa-EU Cooperation Forum on ICT' is a forum to support building relationships between African and European information and communication technology experts.
The event is designed for anyone with an interest in Euro-African collaborative projects on ICT. It is organized in the framework of the AUC Internet/ICT Week that will be held from 2 to 6 December in Addis Ababa to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the formation of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) / African Union (AU).
The EuroAfrica-ICT initiative has been promoting connection-building between researchers, industry and networks in technology since 2008. Part of this effort includes forums, where hundreds of experts gather to discuss the state of technology in fields such as infrastructure, agriculture and education. These forums allow participants to exchange views, share knowledge and identify ways to work together while aiding development of the technology sector in Africa.
The project has also developed a database of centres of excellence in information and communication technology research in Africa as a resource for researchers looking for potential partners for their projects.
TWAS is one of several institutions that has been involved in the EuroAfrica-ICT project, including helping organize two major conferences. TWAS continues to maintain its links with the project.
Additional information, including news of meetings and awareness workshops being organized in Europe or Africa, as well as the EuroAfrica-ICT community, newsletters or helpdesks, are available on the project website: www.euroafrica-ict.org.
