TWAS is accepting applications for its postgraduate, postdoctoral, visiting scholars and advanced research fellowship programmes. The fellowships are offered to scientists from developing countries and are tenable at centres of excellence in various countries in the South, including Brazil, China, Kenya, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Pakistan, Thailand. Eligible fields include: agricultural and biological sciences, medical and health sciences, chemistry, engineering, astronomy, space and earth sciences, mathematics and physics.

For the following programmes, the deadline for applications is 15 September:
- Iran: for young scientists from developing countries (other than Iran) who wish to pursue postdoctoral research at the Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST) in applied agriculture, biotechnology, mechanical engineering, electrical and computer science engineering, advanced material and renewable energies, industrial chemistry and space sciences.
- Kenya: for young scientists from developing countries (other than Kenya) who wish to pursue research in the natural sciences (especially with focus on integrated control methodologies for crop and livestock insect pests, related arthropods, or insect vectors of tropical diseases):
- research leading towards a PhD at icipe;
- postdoctoral research at icipe
- for Visiting Scholars from developing countries (other than Kenya) who wish to pursue advanced research in the natural sciences at icipe.
- Malaysia: for young scientists from developing countries (other than Malaysia):
- to pursue studies leading to a PhD degree in the natural sciences at the Universiti Sains Malaysia;
- to pursue postdoctoral advanced research in the natural sciences at the Universiti Sains Malaysia;
- to pursue postdoctoral advanced research in the natural sciences at the Universiti Putra Malaysia;
- as Visiting researchers/scholar from developing countries (other than Malaysia) to pursue advanced research in natural sciences at the Universiti Sains Malaysia or at the Universiti Putra Malaysia.
- Mexico: for scientists from developing countries (other than Mexico) who wish to pursue postdoctoral research in basic natural sciences in Mexico.
- Pakistan: for scientists from developing countries (other than Pakistan) who wish to pursue postdoctoral research or advanced research as visiting scholar at the National Centre for Physics (NCP) in Islamabad.
- Thailand: for young scientists from developing countries (other than Thailand) who wish to pursue postdoctoral research in molecular biology, molecular genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology, bioinformatics or related disciplines at BIOTEC in Thailand.
