A key TWAS grants programme focused on helping young African scientists to establish their own research laboratories in their home continent is now open for applications.
The Seed Grants for New African Principal Investigators (SG-NAPI) is a programme administered by TWAS and fully funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). This is the third year of the grants programme, which is slated to run for seven years total and has thus far provided 58 grants to African researchers.
“The SG-NAPI award has surely strengthened my reputation at Uganda Christian University and interactions with colleagues,” said 2021 awardee Rosemary Bulyaba of Uganda. “The award uplifted my value to the university. I was actually promoted from head of department to dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences in February 2022.”
