Biodata
Jeng-Da Chai is a Professor of Physics at National Taiwan University. Prof. Chai, who was born in Hualien, Taiwan, received his B.S. degree in Physics from National Taiwan University (June 1997), M.S. degree in Physics from The Ohio State University (June 2002), and Ph.D. degree in Chemical Physics from the University of Maryland, College Park (December 2005). After receiving his Ph.D., Prof. Chai performed postdoctoral research at the University of California, Berkeley (January 2006 ~ June 2009). He joined the Department of Physics at National Taiwan University as an Assistant Professor in August 2009. He was promoted to Associate Professor in August 2013, and to Full Professor in August 2017. His group has focused on the development of new quantum-mechanical methods suitable for the study of nanoscale systems (with 100 ~ 1,000,000 electrons), and their applications to materials for new energy (e.g., solar cells and hydrogen storage materials).
