Dhar obtained his MSc in physics from the Indian Institute of Technology at Kanpur and PhD in physics from the California Institute of Technology. He has been at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai since 1978. He has worked on the problems in disordered systems, in particular relaxation in disordered magnets. His most influential work has been in the area of self-organized criticality, finding models which can be solved exactly. He is a fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Indian National Science Academy, and of the National Academy of Sciences. He is recipient of the Young Scientist Award, Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize in Physics, the JR Schrieffer Prize of the ICTP, TWAS prize in Physics, and the SN Bose medal of the Indian National Science Academy.

Dikshit has made significant contributions to molecular pharmacology with special emphasis on redox/NO biology and metabolism. In the area of neutrophil biology she enhanced our understanding of how nitric oxide modulates neutrophil differentiation, survival, free radical generation, NETosis, chemotaxis, and microbicidal activity. She has investigated the role of iNOS in metabolic regulations and insulin sensitivity. She led the anti-thrombotic drug discovery team at Central Drug Research Institute, and one of their new chemical entities has received permission for phase I clinical trial in India. She initiated a programme on drug and biomarker discovery in the area of fatty liver disease at the Translational Health Science and Technology Institute, with significant contributions. During the COVID-19 pandemic, under a Department of Biotechnology - Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) project, she undertook preclinical and pharmacokinetic evaluations of AYUSH herbal formulations for mitigating SARS- CoV2 and associated pathologies. Dikshit has published 200+ papers, 23 reviews, and 8 patents, edited 3 books, and has supervised 37 PhD and 10 MD theses.

Dube is Emeritus Scientist of Indian National Science Academy and Csir JC Bose National Fellow, Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow, India. Her research focus is on the endemic organism Leishmania sp., a protozoan parasite causing Kala-azar, a neglected tropical disease and a major health problem in pockets in the Indian sub-continent. She identified novel vaccine and drug targets using functional genomics and proteomics, leading to the development of indigenous protein vaccines. This also led to the detection of new biomarkers for drug resistance in Leishmania. She developed and established the first non-human primate model for preclinical evaluation of a potential antileishmanial drug/vaccine, and generated fluorescent Leishmania organism for rapid drug screening which were recognized nationally and internationally. Member of the three Indian science academies, she has received awards such as Sir J.C. Bose National Fellowship, Indian Council of Medical Research Kshanika Oration, and Dr. B.N. Singh Memorial Oration among others.

Ghosh is currently Distinguished Professor and Dean, Academic Affairs at the UM-DAE-Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences, University of Mumbai, Kalina Campus, Santacruz (East), Mumbai 400098, India. Earlier he served as Head of the Theoretical Chemistry Section, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai, India, and senior professor and dean-academic (chemical sciences) at Homi Bhabha National Institute, Mumbai, India. He was educated at the University of Burdwan, India (MSc), and Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (PhD, 1982). He has worked in different areas of theoretical chemistry, dealing with density functional theory at different length scales and time-dependent systems, theory of chemical binding, structure of soft matter at interfaces, dynamics in condensed phase and modeling materials for energy applications. He is a fellow of all three national science academies of India and is recipient of the TWAS Prize in Chemistry, silver medal of the Chemical Research Society of India, JC Bose National Fellowship of DST, India, Jagdish Shankar Memorial Lecture Award of INSA and D.Sc. (honoris causa) from Kalyani University, India.

Gopakumar is Senior Prof. and Director of the Int. Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS-TIFR) in Bengaluru, India. He was previously Prof. at the Harish-Chandra Research Institute (HRI), Allahabad, India. He did his undergraduate studies at IIT-Kanpur and obtained his Phd in 1997 under the supervision of David Gross at Princeton U., USA. After a research associateship at Harvard U. he returned to India to work at HRI. His work has aimed to understand the origin of gauge-string dualities. He is known for the Gopakumar-Vafa duality as well as the Gopakumar-Vafa invariants. His work with Gaberdiel on the duals to minimal model CFTs has also been very influential. He is the recipient of the ICTP Prize, S. S. Bhatnagar award, G. D. Birla Award, TWAS Prize in Physical Sciences, J. C. Bose Fellowship among other awards. He is a member of all three Indian science academies as well as a founding member-alumnus of the Global Young Academy.

Goswami (PhD University of Calcutta, 1996) is currently a senior professor in the Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad, India. Her topic of research is neutrino physics and physics beyond the Standard Model of particle physics. She is a member of the India-Based Neutrino Observatory collaboration. She has received several awards including the Humboldt fellowship from Alexander-von-Humboldt foundation, P. Sheel Memorial Lecture Award for women scientists from the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), Allahabad, India, the C .V. Raman Mahila Vijnana Puraskara from Swadeshi Vijnana Andolana, Karnataka, and the J.C. Bose National fellowship of Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), India. She is an elected fellow of all the three science academies in India.

Goswami is SERB Distinguished Fellow of Government of India at Cotton University in Guwahati. He obtained his PhD from PRL, Ahmedabad, and did postdoctoral research at MIT, Cambridge, USA, and at NASA/GSFC, USA. Returning to India, he worked at CAS/IIT, Delhi and CAOS, IISc, Bangalore between 1985 and 2006. He was Director of IITM, Pune between 2006 and 2014. He was visiting professor at the University of Maryland and Princeton University. He has received the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award; Hari Om Ashram Prerit Vikram Sarabhai Award; Kamal Kumari National Award for Science and Technology;National Award in Atmospheric Science and Technology by MoES and the Kalpathi Ramakrishna Ramanathan Medal by INSA. He is a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Sciences, Indian National Science Academy and Indian Meteorological Society, and member of several national and international commissions and committees.

Gupta (PhD 1969, Agra U.), after serving as Director for over 10 years and DBT Distinguished Research Professor for 7 years at Central Drug Res. Inst., Lucknow, is now working as Dist. Prof., Inst. Bioinform. and Applied Biotech., Bangalore. He was previously: Postdoctoral fellow, Syntex Res. Centre; Res.Ass. and Vis. Scientist, MIT; Scientist, CDRI; and Director, Inst. of Microbial Tech., Chandigarh. His awards include: INSA Young Scientist Medal in Chem.; SS Bhatnagar Prize; Ranbaxy Rese. Foundation Award; Dr. Nitya Anand Endowment Lecture Award, INSA; FICCI Award in Life Sciences; Goyal Prize in Applied Sciences; and Om Prakash Bhasin Award in Biotech. and Biological Sciences. His membership includes: INSA; Indian Acad. of Sciences; NAS, India; and National Acad. of Medical Sciences, India. He has published 145 research papers in peer reviewed journals and filed 6 patents.

Gupta is a Professor of Geology at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. He obtained his Ph.D. in 1987 at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi and joined Department of Geology and Geophysics, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur as Lecturer in same year. He was Head of the Department of Geology and Geophysics, IIT Kharagpur (2006-09) and Head, Center for Oceans, Rivers, Atmospheric and Land Sciences (2018-2021). Gupta was Director, Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, Dehradun (2010-17). He has been a Research Associate at LSU, Baton Rouge, USA; Senior JSPS Fellow at Shimane University, Japan; and NRC, USA Senior Research Fellow to NOAA, Boulder. He was Vice President of the Indian Geophysical Union. His honors include ISCA 1990 Young Scientist Award, National Mineral Award 2000, India; Prof. T.M. Harris Medal – 2004; Dr. J. Coggin Brown Memorial (Gold) Medal; TWAS Prize 2010; Prof. S.N. Bhalla Gold Medal for 2016 of the Palaeontological Society of India. He is J.C. Bose Fellow since 2012. Gupta is fellow of all Science Academies of India and Life Fellow of Indian Geophysical Union. He was Review Editor for Chapter 5 of AR5 of IPCC.

Hasan is Senior Professor at the National Centre for Biological Sciences, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Bangalore, India. She obtained her Ph.D at the University of Cambridge, UK, in 1983. Research from her group has contributed to an understanding of signaling mechanisms underlying maturation of neural circuits and their dysregulation in disease. Her memberships include the Indian National Science Academy and the Indian Academy of Sciences.

Jairajpuri is retired professor of zoology and Indian Natl. Science Acad. (INSA) senior scientist, Aligarh Muslim U., India. His work in the taxonomy and systematics of free-living and plant parasitic nematode is acknowledged internationally and his books on the Dorylaimida and Mononchida etc., are valuable tools for the identification of these difficult groups of free living, plant parasitic and predaceous nematodes. His awards include: Gold Medal, Zoological Soc. of India, 1978 and 1998; Janaki Ammal Natl. Award on Taxonomy, Min. Env. For., India, 1999; Har Swarup Memorial Award, Jawaharlal Nehru Vis. Jemmis is professor of chemistry at IISc, Bangalore. He studies the structure and reactivity problems of real life molecules, clusters and solids using theoretical techniques. He has successfully linked different areas of chemistry through his computational chemical approach. His major contributions include theoretical study of transition metal complexes of fullerenes and their ring-opened alternatives; a unifying electron-counting rule for polyhedral boranes, metallaboranes, and metallocenes; electronic structural requirements for macro-polyhedral boranes and elemental boron; establishment of novel analogies between carbon and boron, and on the structures and reactions of transition metal organometallics. Recently he has formulated electron counting rules for borophenes and borophites. The interplay between hexagonal hole density and interlayer bond density provides infinite options multilayer borophenes. He is a fellow of all science academies of India, winner of the INSA Young Scientist Prize, SS Bhatnagar Prize, Millennium Medal of Indian CSIR and other national science honours. Govt of India honored him with the civilian award, Padma Shri.

Jha (PhD 1965, Stanford U.) is Honorary Professor at DAE-UM Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences, U. of Mumbai. He completed postdoctoral work at Harvard and the IBM Research Centre in Yorktown heights, NY, and then returned to the Faculty of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR). He retired in 2002 as distinguished professor of physics and as its director, a position which he had held since 1997. He was honorary professor at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai (2003-08), and a distinguished guest professor at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (2002-12). His honours include: SS Bhatanagar Award; SN Bose INSA Medal for Theoretical Sciences; CV Raman Birth Centenary Medal; and the Jawaharlal Nehru Birth Centenary INSA Lecturership. He is a fellow of all major science academies in India as well as the American Physical Society.

Joshi, an internationally acclaimed scientist, was a senior professor in the department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, before joining Charotar University of Science and Technology (CHARUSAT) as their provost, and founding director for the International Center for Cosmology (ICC). He is regarded as a scholar, physicist, and an expert on cosmology. Joshi’s research interests are general relativity and cosmology. He has made fundamental contributions in black hole physics and gravitation theory. His extensive analysis of general relativistic gravitational collapse has been widely recognized as providing significant insights into final fate of massive collapsing stars in the universe, formation of space-time singularities, and cosmic censorship. His research which mainly revolves around Cosmology and Gravitation Physics, has been reported in more than 200 research papers in international journals of repute, and also in monographs from Oxford University Press (OUP), Cambridge University Press (CUP) and other books on the subject. He has held visiting faculty positions in several countries doing research, lecturing on these topic.

Khanduja obtained her BA, MA and Ph.D. degree from Panjab University, Chandigarh and thereafter taught in that university for more than 35 years. In April 2011, she joined Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Mohali and at present is INSA senior scientist in this institute. She is fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences Bangalore, National Academy of Sciences Allahabad and Indian National Science Academy (INSA) New Delhi. In 2015, she was awarded Professor V.V. Narlikar memorial lecture award of INSA. As a teacher in Panjab University and IISER Mohali, she took part in various programs promoting the cause of mathematics and she was coordinator of NBHM (National Board for Higher Mathematics) Ph.D. and M.Sc. scholarship tests from 2003 to 2010.

Krishnaswamy is EX- director, Natl. Inst. of Nutrition, Hyderabad, and past president, Nutrition Society of India (NSI). Her work on the prevention of cancer by turmeric highlights the role of malnutrition in cancer and on antimutagens and anticarcinogens in Indian diets. Kumar, Anil (PhD, IIT, Kanpur, 1969) is NASI-Senior Scientist Platinum Jubilee fellow, Indian Inst. of Science (IISc), Bangalore. He was postdoc, Georgia Tech., 19anilnmr@physics.iisc.ernet.in69-70; UNC at Chapel Hill, 1970-72; and ETH, Zurich, 1973-76, with R. Ernst (Nobel Pr., Chem. 1991). He joined the faculty at IISc in 1977, and served as chair., Dept. of Physics and convener, NMR Facility. He did sabbaticals at ETH Zurich, 1979-80, with K. Wüthrich (Nobel Pr., Chem., 2002), and UNC Chapel Hill, 1989-90. He is a fellow, Indian Acad. of Sciences, 1987; Natl. Acad. of Sciences, India (NASI), 1989; Indian Natl. Kumar has a B.Tech. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology at Kanpur, and a PhD from Cornell University, both in Electrical Engineering. He was with Bell Laboratories, Holmdel, N.J., USA, for over 6 years. Since 1988 he has been with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, where he is a Professor, and also the Chair of the Electrical Sciences Division. From 1988 to 2003 he was the Coordinator at IISc of the Education and Research Network Project (ERNET), India's first wide-area packet switching network. He has been elected Fellow of the IEEE (the Insitution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), the Indian Academy of Sciences (IASc), and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS). He received the IISc Alumni Award for Excellence in Engineering Research for 2008.

Mahadevan (PhD, 1998, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore) is a condensed matter theorist working as a Professor at the S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata, in India. She is a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Science, and was a Member of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) C20 Commission on Computational Physics from 2015 to 2021. She has been a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials as well as of ACS Energy Letters since 2021. She was a recipient of the NASI (National Academy of Sciences, India)-Scopus Young Scientist Award in 2010 and of the TWOWS Award for Young Women Scientists in physics/mathematics in Asia region in 2010. Her research interests involve using a combination of ab-initio and model Hamiltonian methods in understanding properties of materials - with a focus on electronic structure and magnetism.
